The Chalke Valley Link Scheme

Officially commenced on 1 January 1997 and now covers the entire course of the River Ebble: an area from Britford/Bodenham westwards to Berwick St John.

(So including Nunton, Homington, Coombe Bissettt, Stratford Tony, Bishopstone, Broad Chalke, Bowerchalke, Fifield Bavant,  Ebbesbourne Wake & Alvediston.)

The Link Scheme is an independent voluntary organisation managed by local people responding to the needs of the local community. The purpose is to help with any problem, no matter how small, in a local, personal and friendly way - e.g. Transport (particularly to the surgey or hospital), collecting prescriptions, light gardening, changing library books, companionship, dog walking etc.

In the first year the scheme received 300 requests for transport and 20 requests for other aspects of care.

The scheme is financed by voluntary contributions (it is hoped that this will eventually be 80% of revenue), fund raising and grant aid.

If you need help with transport and live in Broad Chalke, Bowerchalke, Fifield Bavant,  Ebbesbourne Wake & Alvediston or Berwick St John
